Overview.

The 3F PIC Series is designed for fast-event studies that demand high sensitivity and time resolution. A triple-filter quadrupole and pulse-ion-counting detector capture transient species during UHV temperature-programmed desorption, pulsed gas experiments and related time-resolved research.

High-speed pulse counting for transient and desorption studies

The analyzer combines pre- and post-filters with the primary mass filter to improve abundance sensitivity and resistance to unwanted ions. Pulse-ion counting provides a continuous seven-decade measurement range, while standard acquisition reaches up to 1,000 data points per second.

UHV-compatible mass-filter shrouds and a low-profile ion source enable close positioning to the desorption surface. Analog and digital inputs support synchronized acquisition, and MASsoft software can display mass-channel data alongside sample temperature. The result is a configurable fast-transient mass spectrometry platform for resolving short-lived signals across the documented acquisition modes.

Key Features.

  • The 50, 300 and 510 amu 3F PIC analyzers use 6 mm molybdenum quadrupoles, while the 1,000 amu configuration uses a 9 mm quadrupole, matching analyzer geometry to the required mass range
  • Increased mass resolution, high-mass transmission and ion stability improve species separation and measurement precision
  • Full 0–150 eV electron-energy control enables complementary threshold ionization mass spectrometry (TIMS) analysis
  • PIC detection, with an optional PIC/Faraday configuration, allows the detector arrangement to be matched to the measurement requirements

Software.

Every system ships with control software. Which package suits depends on whether you are running quantitative gas analysis, evolved gas work, or building your own acquisition routines.
