Overview.

The HPR-20 R&D is a benchtop mass spectrometer for monitoring evolved gases and vapors. A triple filter mass spectrometer provides improved resolution and abundance sensitivity, with an ultimate detection limit of 5 ppb subject to spectral interference.

It is offered with a wide range of interfaces for connection to external equipment, and is configured with Hiden’s heated Quartz Inert Capillary (QIC) for continuous sampling of gases and vapors.

Backing and bypass pumping is provided by a high performance scroll pump. Gas sampling is continuous, with a sample flow rate user configurable from less than 1 ml/min to more than 15 ml/min.

Typical applications

Measured performance.

Both traces are real instrument data from this system.

Trace showing simultaneous measurement of ammonia, nitric oxide and oxygen in 2 percent water
Simultaneous measurement of low ppm levels of ammonia, nitric oxide and oxygen in a 2 percent concentration of water. Primary axis is partial pressure of water, secondary axis is partial pressure of oxygen, ammonia and nitric oxide.
Trace showing detection of nitric oxide in 1000 ppm nitrogen dioxide, with inset expansion at 12 ppm
Detection limit of nitric oxide in 1000 ppm nitrogen dioxide. The inset expands the detection of 12 ppm NO in 1000 ppm NO2. Primary axis is partial pressure at m/z 30, secondary axis is m/z 46.
